Jennifer Shrader Lawrence (born August 15, 1990) is an actress from United States. Lawrence began her acting career in television series. She starred in her first major role on the TBS sitcom, The Bill Engvall Show (2007–09). After switching to film, she gave best performance in Winter’s Bone (2010) and received her first Academy Award nomination. She plays Mystique in the fifth X-Men movie , X-Men: First Class (2011) and continues her role in several X-Men films.

Biography

Jennifer Lawrence was born and raised in Indian Hills, Kentucky. She is the daughter of Karen (née Koch; born 1956), a children’s camp manager and Gary Lawrence, a construction worker. She has two brothers, Ben and Blaine. When she was 14, she decided to pursue a acting career and persuaded her parents to take her to New York City to find a talent agent. Lawrence attended Kammerer High School in Louisville. She finished high school two months earlier with a grade-3.9 / 4.0 average and wanted to pursue a career in acting. While growing up, Lawrence worked as a nurse’s assistant at a children’s summer camp run by her parents.

Personal life

Growing up in Kentucky, Lawrence enjoys horseback riding and regularly visits local horse farms.  During filming of X-Men: First Class in 2010, Lawrence began a relationship with Nicholas Hoult . The couple split in 2014. From September 2016 to October 2017, she was in a relationship with the director of a mother film ! , Darren Aronofsky .

Lawrence is active in charities such as the World Food Program , Feeding America and The Thirst Project.She organized the premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to benefit the Saint Mary’s Center, a handicapped organization based in her native Louisville, Kentucky and raised more than $ 40,000. Lawrence is the ambassador of Special Olympics, the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with disabilities.  Lawrence founded the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, which supports charities such as the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, Special Olympics and Do Something. She also raised funds for the 2015 Summer Special Olympics in Los Angeles as part of the premiere of LA for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.

2006–2011

Jennifer Lawrence began her acting career on the TBS comedy series The Bill Engvall Show starring Lauren Pearson.  The series premiered in September 2007 and lasted for three seasons.  Actors in the series include Lawrence, winning the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Actor in TV Series and receiving nominations for Best Actor in TV Series (Comedy or Drama).  In 2008, Lawrence made her first film appearance in a small role in the Garden Party , followed by a lead character in Lori Petty’s directorial film, The Poker House . She was awarded the Los Angeles Film Festival Outstanding Award for his performance in The Poker House .She then appeared in Guillermo Arriaga’s first directorial film, The Burning Plain (2008) with Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger. Her role in the film allowed her to win the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Actor at the Venice Film Festival. She also appeared in the Parachute music video for The Mess I Made.

Jennifer Lawrence‘s leading role in Debra Granik ‘s directorial film Winter’s Bone (2010) was nominated for Best Film at the Sundance Film Festival often portrayed as her first standout act.  Her role in the film was widely praised by movie critics. Lawrence was awarded the National Board of Review for Outstanding Performance and received the Academy Award for Best Actress .

In 2012, Jennifer Lawrence starred as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games , an adaptation of the novel of the same title by

Suzanne Collins . Although a fan of the novel, it took Lawrence three days to accept the character because he was initially afraid of the size of the movie and how it might have affected his career. She underwent extensive training for the character including archery, rock climbing and trees and combat. With an international gross of $ 691.2 million, The Hunger Games became the first box office film to earn ($ 350 million and above) starring a female actor, made Lawrence the highest-paid action heroine. The film received positive reviews and Lawrence’s performance as Katniss received praise.

Lawrence plays the role of a young widow in the Silver Linings Playbook (2012), an adaptation of the novel by the same title by Matthew Quick. The film also stars Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro .  She  received critical acclaim for his acting.  For her role in the film, she won the Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Actress ,  making her the youngest Oskar Best Actress at 22 years old.  Lawrence also starred in Max Thieriot and Elisabeth Shuein House at the End of the Street (2012).  She became the face of fashion house, Dior in October 2012.

In 2013, Lawrence starred in the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire , the second film in the series The Hunger Games . It was a commercial success with a turnover of $ 864.9 million. She then starred in American Hustle (2013) starring Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner . Lawrence once again plays the character of Mystique in the superhero film, X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). In August 2015, Lawrence announced that he and Amy Schumer were writing a comedy screenplay for an upcoming movie.
