Eastwood was born on May 31 in San Francisco , the son of Clinton Eastwood Sr. (1906–1970) and Ruth (Runner) Wood (1909–2006).

In France , where his pictures are very popular, he became a “Commander” of the “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” in 1994 and in 2007 he received the “Légion d’honneur” medal. In 2000 he won the Golden Lion on theVenetian Film Festival received for its lifelong contribution to the film industry.
