Ingrid Scarlett Johansson (born 22 November 1984) is an actress and singer from United States. She is one of the highest paid actresses in the world from 2014 to 2016, whose name has appeared on the Forbes Celebrity 100 and has been immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was born and raised in Manhattan, New York City. Since she was young, she had aspired to become an actress, and first appeared on stage in an Off-Broadway drama show when she was a child. Johansson made her film debut in the fantasy comedy film North ( 1994 ) and was nominated for an Independent Spirit award for his role in the film Manny & Lo ( 1996 ). She also gained recognition for his work in The Horse Whisperer ( 1998 ) and Ghost World ( 2001 ).

Biography

Scarlett Johansson was born in Manhattan , New York City,  on November 22 , 1984 .  Her father, Karsten Olaf Johansson, was a Danish- born architect , and her father’s grandfather, Ejner Johansson, was a historian, screenwriter and film director (father Scarlett himself was Swedish ). Her mother, Melanie Sloan, is a producer, Ashkenazi family who came from Poland and Russia. Johansson’s parents met in Denmark, where her mother lived with Johansson’s maternal grandmother, Dorothy, a former bookkeeper and teacher.  Johansson has an older sister named Vanessa who is also an actress, an older brother named Adrian, a twin brother named Hunter  who is also an actor, and a stepbrother named Christian who was his father’s son from his first marriage . She has two nationalities, the United States and Denmark .

Johansson grew up in a simple household with a mother working as a film buff.  Johansson began her cinema practice by attending and graduating from the Professional Child School in Manhattan in 2002.

Johansson switched to an adult role in 2003 with her appearance in the film Lost in Translation (she won the BAFTA award for Best Lead Actress for the role) and the film Girl with a Pearl Earring . She was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards in both films above and also for her role as an isolated teenager in the drama film A Love Song for Bobby Long ( 2004 ) and as a seductive woman in a psychological thriller titled Match Point ( 2005). Other films he starred in this period included the mystery thriller The Prestige ( 2006 ) and the comedy drama Vicky Cristina Barcelona ( 2008 ). He also released two albums: Anywhere I Lay My Head ( 2008 ) and Break Up ( 2009 ), both of which topped the Billboard 200 charts .

In her debut role in 2010 on the Broadway stage in a staging back from A View from the Bridge , which finally gave her the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play .
